Beringen. I cycle to Beringen, B mine, where I will meet some journalists to talk about the project. The weather is grey and dull, but becomes better slowly. We talk about the site; the coal washery which is threatened -again- by demolishing, the new buildings that have arisen on the site, the divingclub and the close-by slag heap, which offers a playground for children and mountainbikes, and turns out to be a magnificent viewpoint on the site to me …
I take some photo’s from this slag heap, and from playing children and cycling teenagers. The light is becoming better, and I do some shots around the coal mine remnants as well as the new shoppingcenter next to it. Then I go down and take pictures from groundlevel. I’m busy looking around till 4 p.m. Then I take a break to wait for Paul and another journalist. We talk again and finish the working day with some portraits for the newspaper.
