On the bicycle again to Genk Waterschei, where the coalmine buildings are partly renovated, partly still under construction. Here some new buildings form an so called energy campus ‘Thor’. I walk on the slag heaps nearby and fall in love with the landscape. It’s like walking on the moon, one is completely alone into some sort of small desert, climbing up gives tremendous panoramas on the nearby coalmines and forests. The slag heap looks like a piece of art and is used by mountainbikers and hikers. You can find little moors, nice sanddunes and old trees hanging upside down from the hills.
