Slag heap Hoheward rises above the landscape. It consists of stones and coal of various Ruhrgebiet-mines, and attracts many people; for sports, hiking, cycling and climbing, or just to enjoy the different views on the Emscher region. Zeche Ewald at the foot is turned into a theatre, at Hochlarmark pit there’s a halfpipe for skaters.
